Fifth Grade
The 5th grade students are learning to listen closely to music and identify instruments, dynamics, tempo, expression, timbre and harmony. Also, they continue to review their notes on the staff and play xylophones and recorders. We also use drums to reinforce rhythmic reading. This is preparing them for future musical study and performance. This year we have the addition of ukuleles in the music room which has given 5th graders a wonderful opportunity to learn C,F and G chords. They are able to play and sing along with many songs, which increases their cooperation, listening, and appreciation of music. Fifth graders will have a unit on jazz music and enjoy learning to improvise! This is their final year of elementary school and a culmination of all they have learned. Fifth grade farewell program is Thursday, April 25, 2018.
